nan and the lions
Grandma Cilla with a Mountain Lion and an African Lion cub.

In the past , she has assisted in the making of a cookbook, “Palate Pleasers,” in conjunction with her church.

In addition to her fiction writing, she has received the President’s Award for Literary Excellence from the National Author’s Registry for her poem, “God Bless America,” an Honorable Mention from Iliad Press for her poem “Up to Me,” and is published in Today’s Famous Poems, “On The Wings of Pegasus, 2003 Edition. She has also written several Christian choruses for children entitled, “Who Can?” “Psalm 100,” “Creation,” “Make Me a Mountain,” and “My Heart.” “Aaron’s Little Light,” not yet published, is this year’s attempt at adding a special new character to the Christmas Story in a different way.

In October 2004 she toured five states signing books, speaking to classes of 4th, 5th and 6th graders about how to write and make the words into mind pictures, writing about what you know, research, and the use of fiction vs. true facts.  She visited libraries and book stores, did book signings in her home town and made contacts for future engagements.

Nancy plans to continue writing more animal fiction.  She is currently working on her fourth book, “Thunder on the Mountain.”  It tells the story of Cherokee and Sunee’s children.  A fifth book is planned and will be titled, “Anna Waya.”  Although these last two books are not a part of The Cherokee Series, you will find familiar friends in them.
